A good show of Otm cattle this week seeing at top of £980.88 for a 732kg Limousin from JP & CM Jones, Maesterran. Cows 48 to 72 months topped at £1072.60 for a Charolais weighing 692kg from DM & DI Jerman, Moelywigoedd. RL & GP Williams, Brynmawr, presented a 39 month old Charolais heifer weighing 656kg making £852.80.

CULL SHEEP (3055)
An entry of 3055 culls met with reduced averages of £38.75 for ewes, seeing smaller thinner ewes on offer, and rams averaged £62.36. Topping the ewe section was a single ewe from R G Jones, Vastre Farm. D & G Andrew, Lower Brynygroes, presented 4 ewes making £92. Rams topped at £121 from C Carter, Moelwylim.
STORE LAMBS (1332)
Another strong entry of 1,332 store lambs entering the market this week with a nice show of lambs averaging £51.27 all through.
Top call went to R Isaac, Aelybryn for Texel x theave lambs selling to £67.50 while EG & ME Griffiths, Gilfach sold Suffolk x wether lambs to £64.50. Generally, continental x clean lambs selling from £55-£62 with smaller long term lambs selling from £38-£50.

BREEDING EWES (1300)
An entry of 1300 breeding ewes and ewe lambs sold to a steadier trade with older plainer ewe being most difficult as many purchasers look for smaller packets as they fill up. Hitting the top slot for the day was a pen of 10 mule yearlings from R J Randles, Oakfield, which sold for £130. The same vendor had further pens to £125 and £118. A special entry of 160 improved Llandovery Welsh Yearling ewes from T L Harris, Hendre, sold to a top of £116, averaging £111 throughout the whole run. R H Hughes, Fachwen fawr, presented 5 2 year old Texel ewes which sold for £92. With 3 year old ewes hitting £90 for a pen of 10 Texel x from F L Jones & Son, Fferm. Although full mouth and as found ewes were harder sold, entries still hit £85 for a pen of 8 Texel x full mouth ewes from F L Jones & Son, Fferm. Ewe lambs sold to a top price of £94 for a pen of 12 Texel x from P V Jerman, Upper Pentre. D H & J C Parry, Tynymaes, presented a pen of 11 Texel x ewe lambs selling for £91 and a further pen of 7 that hit £86. Mule ewe lambs peaked at £90 for a pen of 12 from L E Brymer-Griffith & Co, Bryneira.

Two Year Old Ewes (62) £79 top of £92.
Three Year Old Ewes (49) £76 to £90.
Full Mouth Ewes (175) £60 top of £85.

Catalogued Sale of 1500 Breeding ewe sale Next Monday, sale to commence at approximately 11.30 am following the sale of store lambs.
SUPPLEMENTARY SALE OF TEXEL RAMS
Catalogued sale of 40 Pedigree Texel rams sold through ring 1 on Monday, selling to a top of 560gns for a yearling ram from SP & CP Williams, Great Woolascott Farm Also from the same home were two yearling rams making 520gns each. Ram lambs topped at 440gns from RM & G Hughes, Ty Canol.
Averages for the day: Yearling Rams averaged £361.50, Ram Lambs averaged £304.50.

COWS AND CALVES
An outstanding entry of 86 cows and calves this week and 3 bulling heifers met with a good trade on good outfits. Topping the sale at £2700 was a Limousin x 1st calver with her limousin heifer calf from the annual consignment from R W Owen, Geirn, Anglesey. The Owen family presented 30 outfits selling to an overall average of £2074.37. Other notable prices for the owen family were £2480 for a Limousin x 2st calver with a Limousin male calf, £2450 for a Limousin x 1st calver with a Limousin male calf.
Another special entry forward this week from MD Probert & VJ Legrand, Top farm, Leebotwood, the entry consisted of 26 cows and calves topping at £2020 for a British Blue x 1st calver with a Limousin x heifer calf. Overall the 26 outfits offered averaged £1530.
I P Jones, Ddol Fawr, presented a British Blue x 1st calver with a Limousin x Bull calf at foot making £2180. A pedigree Charolais cow ‘Shraden Hallucination’ with a Limousin x bull calf at food from M R Williams, Wern Holding, made £2020.
A breakdown of all prices achieved were as follows:
£2000 + 20 lots, £1800 - £2000 7 lots, £1600 - £1800 20 lots, £1400 - £1600 15 lots, £1200 - £1400 16 lots, £1000 - £1200 12 lots, <£1000 1 lots.
3 Bulling heifers averaged £880.
