Businesses in the Welshpool area are being urged to review the draft rateable value of their property by the end of November.

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) has completed the revaluation of rateable values and published the draft values online.

Businesses can check at www.gov.uk/voa/revaluation. If the information held about the property is incorrect, businesses should inform the VOA by November 30.

Cllr Wynne Jones, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “The VOA is responsible for assessing all rateable values across Wales and England.

“The revaluation reflects changes in the property market across Wales and England since 2008.

“It is important that businesses check their draft rateable value and let the VOA know if the information held about your property is incorrect. It will only take a few minutes to do.

“If you fail to act now, you risk paying too much in business rates.”

The new rates will come into effect on April 1, 2017.
