High Street giant snubs Welshpool

Welshpool’s hopes of becoming a mecca for high street giants have been been brought back down to earth this morning after one of the ‘hotly tipped’ stores said it has no intention of opening in the town.
Halford’s was shocked to learn that it had been included in a basket of big name brands said to be opening in Welshpool and has moved fast to end the rumours.
Contacting mywelshpool, Halfords insisted: “Halfords can confirm that we are not planning to open a new store in Welshpool in the near future.”
Rumours have been rife that top names like Halfords, Argos and Peacocks were sizing up Welshpool after we revealed last August that a number of additional retail units were being built on the multi-million pound Tesco development.
However, earlier this month a development insider tipped us off that things were not going to plan and the units still remained without a single tenant.
