09/12/2016 @ 08:44

Residents who cherish the Powys countryside and have the enthusiasm to manage it to the benefit of the public have the opportunity to join the Powys Local Access Forum.

The forum acts as a statutory advisor to Powys County Council, Natural Resources Wales, the Welsh Government and others in many matters relating to open-air recreation in the county’s countryside, particularly local public rights of way matters.

The Local Access Forum has a three-year life span and the council is looking for suitable recruits to start the new forum, which will meet between two and four times a year. The Powys Local Access Forum is looking for people who cherish open air and recreation in the countryside and have the enthusiasm to make a difference.

Over the past three years, the forum has been consulted on major legislative changes the public access to inland water, and permissive access provision for agri-environment schemes. It will be closely involved in the review of the Council’s Rights of Way Improvement
