A massive, eye-catching image of Powis Castle taken by Welshpool photographer Colin Rogers will grab your attention at the new NFU Mutual office which opens in March.

The company ran a photographic competition and asked people to submit their depiction of Montgomeryshire - whether that be a farming scene, iconic landmark or bustling town street.

The winning image, judged by weather broadcaster Derek Brockway, has been blown up to a gigantic 10mx3m and wallpapered onto the feature wall of the new office in Church Street.

Derek Brockway said; “It was an absolute pleasure to judge the competition – and wow what a fantastic standard of entry.

“I was extremely impressed with the variation and standard of scenes captured – it made my decision very hard. Congratulations to all those who entered, it was a superb competition to be part of.”

The winning image is a famous landmark in Powys and is one of Derek’s favourite places to visit and a location where he filmed his programme, ‘Weatherman Walking’.

Stephen Kenyon, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual Welshpool, said: “The new agency at 20 Church Street has been in development for the last two years and has taken a lot of hard work and clever coordinating.

“The new space is modern, sophisticated and really cutting edge – and a real step forward for our agency. We’re so excited to share it with our members, policy holders and new customers.”

“I had a vision to create an enormous feature wall in the new office, something that really made us different, so launched a photography competition to engage local residents and to gain momentum ahead of launch.

“The competition was extremely exciting and we received a wonderful collection of varied imagery. The winning image is a spectacular scene of Powis Castle and we’re privileged to have such a prestigious and iconic landmark as our statement wall at NFU Mutual Welshpool.”
