Otm cows this week topped at £1286.07 (163ppkg) for a 789kg Limousin from WB & ME Harding, Hafan. Cows 48 to 72 months topped at £835.20 (144ppkg) from E & H Chapman, Morfodion, for a 580kg Charolais cow. Heifers under 48 months were a good trade seeing a top of £1415.31 (191ppkg) for a 741kg Limousin from D I Roberts & Son, Stingwern. One bull under 72 months forward reaching £864.16 (176ppkg) for a 491kg Limousin from DE & KB Owen & Son, Rhallt Isaf.

Cows 48 – 72 months (x1) averaged 144ppkg / £835.20.
Heifers under 48 months (x5) averaged 158.10ppkg / £901.83.

CULL SHEEP (3246)
This week saw an excellent turnout of 3200 cull ewes achieving on average £50.58. This week was slightly down on two previous weeks however, there was a lack of stronger ewes to meet demand. Ewes peaked at £129 presented by Red House Farm, Aberhafesp. An entry of 33 cull rams achieved an average of £80. STORE LAMBS (486)
A similar entry of store lambs this week to last. Store lambs topped at £74.50 for 15 mule tup lambs from D & M Cooke, Coppice Farm. S Ifans, Tanyfordd, presented 40 Texel x tup lambs making £70.50. Mixed and clean lambs reached £66 for texel x lambs from W Meredith, Maesteg.
Averages of the day were:
Theave Lambs (40) averaged £49.19.
Mixed/Clean Lambs (43) averaged £64.64.
Tup lambs (403) averaged £50.93.
BREEDING EWES
Another strong entry of breeding ewes forward for our 2nd catalogued sale of the season saw prices soar to £180 for 10 fantastic Texel x Mule yearling ewes J L Morgan, Tynllwyn, with others from the same home hitting £175 and £170 respectively. Bryan Jones, Ffraithwen, presented a run of 40 Texel x yearlings that sold to £158 and averaged £146.
Suffolk x yearlings peaked at £152 from RF & DJ Price, Pentrenant with others at £142 from the same home.
Other ewes topped at £128 from A Rees & Son, Tynllwyn, for 10 Suffolk x 3 year old and £120 for 10 Texel x as found ewes from D A Rees & Co, Esgair.
Averages: Yearlings averaged £135 to £180, 2 year olds averaged £110 to £126, 3 year olds averaged £110 to £128, full mouth ewes averaged £101 to £120 and as found ewes averaged £83 to £120.
