OTMS (32)
With trade seeming to be holing on otm cattle we saw a top of £1585.92 (192ppkg) for a Charolais otm cow weighing 826kg from J S Abel, Hendre-aur. E Jones & Son, Penbontpren, sold a 771kg Charolais otm making £1210.47 (157pkg). Cows 48 – 72 months topped at £1464 (183ppkg) for a 800kg Charolais from JW Rees & Son, Nantyrhendy. Heifers under 48 months topped at £1395.67 (233ppkg) from A C Jones, Caestwbwrn, for a 599kg British Blue Heifers.

Standards (786) to 200pkg from RA Jones, Red Gwenthrew. Others to 197ppkg from TG & EA Jones, Blaenwaen Ganol. Average of 170.99ppkg.
Mediums (2267) to 250ppkg from CD Jones, Bedol. Others to 239ppkg from J Meredith, Lodge Farm. Average of 176.86ppkg.
Heavies (1032) to 224ppkg from TH Vaughan & Son, Maes Mochnant Uchaf. Others to 216ppkg from RE & EA Jones & Son, Cletterwood. Average of 173.68ppkg.
Over Weights (70) to 188ppkg from JW Hopkins, Bank Farm. Others to 183ppkg from Ben Evans & Co, Upper Cwmydalfa. Average of 170.42ppkg.
CULL SHEEP (2581)
A slightly increased entry of 2523 culls this week was met with a strong trade. Ewes achieved and average of £49.22, this was very similar to the previous week the quality of ewes presented was slightly better. Strong texels, Suffolk x and Mules were in demand, ewes peaked at £124 presented by DSW Jones & Co, LLwynderw. 5 Texel ewes presented by Red House Farm, Aberhafesp, made £114. G E Davies & Sons also saw a good trade with ewes achieving £107. Overall well fleshed ewes sold well throughout.

STORE LAMBS (586)
A good entry of 586 store lambs this week selling to an average of £46.80 The top price went to S Lane, New Hall, Kerry with £70.00 for Wether Lambs . E J Emerson, Cwm Colebatch presented Charollais x Tup lambs topping £68.50 along with having the top price of £67.50 for Mixed/Clean lambs. Theave lambs topped £60.00 from RL & PA Whitticase, Binwilkin.

COWS & CALVES
An entry of 35 cows and calves forward yesterday seeing a top of £2020 for a 2015 born Limousin x cow with her Limousin bull calf from I P Jones, Ddolfawr. 5 outfits on offer from IP Jones, averaged £1884. B Jones, Cwmtrefarlo, presented a 2014 born Limousin x cow with a Limousin heifer calk making £1980. GH & CA Jones & Son, Brynmawr, sold 13 cows and calves as a genuine dispersal sale reaching a top of £1900 for a British Blue x cow with twin Charolais x calves. The 13 outfits on offer averaged £1202. A breakdown of all prices achieved were as follows: £2000 + 1 lot, £1800 - £2000 5 lots, £1600 - £1800 5 lots, £1400 -£1600 4 lots, £1200 - £1400 8 lots, £1000 - £1200 10 lots, < £1000 2 lots.
BREEDING EWES
An entry of 838 breeding ewes was again met with a very mixed trade as purchasers become selective over flock replacements. The best quality soared to a top price of £170, twice, for two lots of 3 pure bred Texel yearlings from R Atkins.
RM Evans, New House, sold Texel x yearlings to £152 and £150.
Welsh mule yearlings from distant travellers WT Davies, Canllefaes Uchaf, sold for £152 twice. With others from RG & JL Peate, Cwmderw, also selling for £152.
The best suffolk x yearlings hit £142 and £141 from AH Jones & Son, Hirrhyd.
Majority of yearlings traded between £120 - £135 with poorer sorts from £100 - £120.
2 year old ewes peaked at £120 twice, first for 8 Beltex x and second for 3 Beltex x ewes both from D B Richards, Maesteg. 3 year old Texels hit £90 for a pen of 6 from R P Thomas, Troedygaer with full mouth mules peaking at £78 from E J Evams, Penygraig. And as found mules to £95 and £88 from OLL Jerman & Sons, Tuhwntirafon.

3 year olds - £80,
Full mouth - £65,
