OTMS (49)
a good show of otm cattle this week saw a top of £1421.31 (177ppkg) for a Limousin cow weighing in at 803kg from CV & EM Lewis, Buittington New Hall. JM & SM Rowlands, Dolwen Farm, presented a 685kg British Blue making £1315.20 (192ppkg). youger cows topped at £1199.90 (169ppkg) for a 710kg Limousin from Bowen & Bowen, Penthryn. heifers under 48 months topped at a whopping £1307.54 (214ppkg) for a 611kg Blonde from E LL Jones, Bryngwaeddan.

CULL SHEEP (2803)
A good show of culls this week saw ewes average £63.29 and rams averaged £89. topping the cull ewes section at £126 was J Higgs, Little Bank Farm and JM & GJ Langford & Son, Pwllan. WRP Jones, Ysguboriau, sold 2 ewes to £125.50. rams topped at £134 from V E Lewis & Son, The Garn, RG & JD Breese, Penrallt, sold a run of cull rams topping at £118.50 for 5.

COUPLES
547 couples comprising of 133 older ewes and 414 hoggs and lambs, which sold to a much faster trade as more purchasers are blessed with grass. older ewes with strong lambs at foot again sold well, underpinned by the fast trade with prices reaching £198 and £194 for Lleyn 3 year olds with twins from D Costa, Tyndrain. other from Messrs Hughes, the Porth, hot £182 for 9 Chaviot mules 4 years old with 17 lambs with others to £175 for 9 ewes with 15 lambs. Hoggs and lambs sold to a much faster pace hitting £222 for 5 Texels with single lambs from J Lewis & Son, Penfynnon. Messrs Goodwin, Lower Esgair, sold 10 Texels with 10 lambs to £212, 6 suffolk x with 6 lambs for £202 and a further 10 Texels to £195. Messrs Davies, Gorse Farm, sold 34 Texel hoggs with single lambs to average £99.44 a life. a large run of 71 hoggs from J V Davies & Co, Garth Fawr, sold to £190 with the run averaging £85.67 a life. The sale saw 13 pens of couples make over £190, with 6 pens of hoggs over £200.
Overall average £141 per couples / £66 per life.
Another catalogued sale of 200 couples next Monday sale which includes the second prize sale of hoggs and lambs kindly sponsored by the British Wool.
COWS & CALVES
An excellent entry of 33 cows and calves met with a sound trade, with some fantastic bids on the quality outfits but steadier on the 2nd quality outfits. Entered by Guto Lewis were 6 quality Limousin, Limousin x and British blue x 1st calvers with some excellent calves at food which sold to a top of £3250 for a British Blue x with a February born bull calf. Two pedigree Limousin cows one with a bull calf and one with a heifer calf sold for £3100 and £3050 respectively. overall the 6 outfits averaged £2833.
An entry of 9 1st calvers with Limousin calves at foot from DP & RE Evans, Moelygarth, sold to a top of £2500 for a Limousin x 1st calver with a Limousin bull calf. Two similar outfits sold for £2320 each. A Hereford x 2nd calver with a Limousin x bull calf from the same home sold for £2300. overall the 9 outfits averaged £2207. RE & CJ Davies, Boycott Hall, sold two Limousin x 1st calvers with a Lim Bull and a Lim Heifer calf at foot sold for £1920 and £1800 respectively. A breakdown of all prices achieved were as follows: £3000 + 3lotd, £2500 - £3000 3 lots, £2200 - £2500 6 lots, £2000 - £2200 2 lots. £1800 - £2000 2 lots, £1600 - £1800 5 lots, £1400 - £1600 4 lots, £1200 - £1400 8 lots.
