PRIME LAMBS (5888)

A larger entry of lambs forward sold to return an average of 190.26ppkg, with a top price of 220ppkg for pen of lambs weighing 28.5kg making £62.80 from BW Morris, Hoarstone, and £105/head for 51kg lambs from AT Williams, Pantllwyn.

Another large entry of lambs forward sold to a slightly slower trade than last week but still the good number of buyers present ensured competitive bidding on all weights and grades of lambs. Better quality , better bred lambs continue to find a strong demand with plenty of pens selling to 200ppkg and above. Supermarket and export weight lambs (39-47 kilos) sold to a very similar trade to last week with again the better quality types of this weight finding keen bidding throughout. Probably best sold on the day were the lightweight lambs which got dearer through the sale with plenty of buyers looking to buy these for the current pre Christmas export contracts. Also there was still a good number of better bred small lambs going back out on farm as stores. Heavy weight lambs were slightly more difficult to sell but the best were still £100+ with the majority £90-£95. Trade should remain at this level up to and during the Christmas period.

Please Note we will be holding a sale of Lambs and Culls Ewes on FRIDAY 20th December.

We will NOT be running on Monday 23rd December
