Another good number of lambs on offer, sold to a good competitive trade throughout with trade remaining strong throughout the sale. Plenty of good quality lambs forward which again sold very well topping at 245ppkg with numerous other pens selling to above 220ppkg. Any better bred , well meated pens of export and supermarket weight lambs (39 – 47 kilos) sold to 200ppkg and above. Heavy weight lambs sold to a similar trade to last week with the very best types selling above £100 and any well fleshed 50+ kilo lambs selling at £90/head and above. Lighter weight lambs found another very good demand especially for the better meated, better bred lambs with still quite a few of these types going back on farms as store lambs for further feeding.  Poorer bred small lambs still found a strong demand as the pre Christmas export demand continues. The only lambs difficult to sell today were any overfat types so please keep drawing lambs when well fleshed.

CULL SHEEP (2641)

This week we saw a stronger entry of 2542 cull ewes that met a terrific trade from start to finish! There were some fantastic runs of ewes forward this week with 14 individual buyers present again. The overall average was £62.27 (up £18.60 on the same day last year), a fantastic average considering the amount of hill ewes forward, however, the average reflects the strong demand for these type of ewes as well as the heaviest ewes with the best Welsh ewes reaching £83.50! There was a shortage of the very best heavy Texel and Suffolk ewes this week, however, any amount of the best Texel x and Suffolk x ewes were £95+, Mule ewes £80+ and Welsh ewes £60+.
