The Welshpool based Potter Group has purchased the 5.5acre site of the former Floform factory in the town as part of its expansion programme.

The biggest privately owned waste management company in Wales has bought the adjoining site to its 7.5 acres at Potters Yard and will move its head office into vacant office space there.

Current tenants in the former Floform factory, Speed Distribution, Dawson Shannahan Engineering, Invertek Drives, Amco Construction and Powys County Council will stay on the 106,000 square feet site.

“The purchase is part of our ongoing programme of expansion,” said Potter Group managing director James Potter. “We have bought the site from a London based investment company because it perfectly suits our needs for the development of the Potters Yard base.

“The move will allow us to develop the present base into a state-of-the-art facility to help us deliver sustainable waste management services and offer total waste management solutions for years to come.”

The group has also purchased land alongside the Montgomery Canal in Welshpool stretching from Severn Road to the Maesydre Recreation Ground.

The land includes the former Jones & Co site and the former Travis Perkins headquarters now occupied by SWG Builders. There are currently no plans for the development of the canalside location.

The Potter Group also recently purchased  90.2acres of farmland at Club House, Tylwch alongside the company’s landfill site at Bryn Posteg near Llanidloes. The landfill site is operated by Potters Waste Management.

The Potter Group is a third generation family run business, originally established for the recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
