Gas safety warning to landlords

31/07/2012 @ 02:05

Local estate agents McCartneys says a landmark case in London is a wake-up call for all landlords.

A London Borough Council was fined almost £100,000 for failing to carry out annual gas safety checks on properties used to house its tenants.

And McCartneys says the case highlights the importance to Landlords of complying with the laws and regulations which apply when renting out a property.

“It is vital as a landlord that you are aware of your responsibilities, from obtaining necessary safety and Energy Performance Certificates, to informing mortgage companies and obtaining sufficient insurances,” said Tom Carter, from McCartneys.

“Whether an established landlord or new to property investment, we can provide practical and professional advice, help you find a suitable tenant for your property and even manage the tenancy for you should you wish.

To find out more, pop in to the McCartneys office on Broad Street.
