Doesn’t time fly when you are having fun?
Well that’s how we feel today at mywelshpool as two years ago, TV weathergirl Sian Lloyd flicked the ‘on switch’ to send us global on the world wide web!
And as we celebrate two years of transforming local news, we can reflect on an incredible journey which would not have been possible without the support of you, the residents from the Welshpool area.
We have endeavoured to bring you the instant news in a balanced, professional manner and for a so called small rural town, there is certainly plenty going on!
We now welcome in access of 1,400 visits on an average day with well over 100,000 page views on a monthly basis. We receive tremendous support from our advertisers who ensure that the service remains free to you at all times – to them we are all indebted.
We have become change makers in the British local media industry and were recognised earlier in the summer by NESTA, the UK innovation foundation, who selected us to join their Destination Local programme which will shape the future of local news gathering and distribution.
Our Facebook followers are fast approaching 2,500 while our Twitter group is now close to 1,000 and as we become a more ‘mobile’ population, our NESTA support will enable us to develop state-of-the-art technology to allow us to make local news readily available on your smart phones. It will also help us to expand our reach into new areas as our third year progresses.
We’ve come a long way in two years but it is your support that drives us forward. We never take it for granted and will always do our best to deliver local news in a way that you want to receive it.
You all deserve a ‘collective’ gold medal as a thank-you for your support and we will do our best to service the area in the best way we can.
Many thanks from us all!
