The new venture helping local residents to save money in local businesses has been launched in Newtown, following its successful introduction in other Montgomeryshire towns.
Ten businesses already signed up to Local Loyalty Powys, which has been created to encourage local residents to do their shopping in local shops with discounts in a variety of businesses.
Local Loyalty Powys manager Rachel Hitchcock said she has been encouraged by the response to the card’s introduction and said Newtown has embraced the initiative.
“It has been really pleasing in Newtown,” said Rachel. “It shows that local people are willing to spend money locally and the card allows both shoppers and businesses to benefit. We are delighted that Newtown has now come on line.”
The businesses to have come on line so far are WR Davies - Motor Group, Shearer & Morris - Estate Agency, Milwyn Jenkins & Jenkins - Solicitors & Conveyancing, La Bella Vita - Toning tables, Vibro Plate & Beauty Parlour, Country Living – Antiques, Berts Bikes - Clean Energy / Electric Bikes, Mid Wales Moto X - Trials bikes parts & service, Jazz Clothing – Boutique, Duo's – Café and Fit4Life – Gym.
Local Loyalty Powys was launched earlier this summer in Llanidloes, Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool and has proved an immediate hit with both local businesses and shoppers alike.
Newtown’s launch is a significant step for the initiative which eventually aims to cover all of Powys.
