Tax deadline approaching

Turner Peachey, the Chartered Accountants with a branch in Welshpool, has reminded local businesses that the October 31 deadline is fast approaching for paper tax returns to be handed in.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) expects all paperwork to be filed by midnight and that date or face a fine, even if there is no tax to pay.

Turner Peachey Partner, Karen Gittins-Jones, said: “The deadline for paper tax returns is only normally after October 31 if you received your tax return, or a notice telling you to complete a tax return, after 31 July.

“If you complete your tax return online, you have three months longer to send it. The deadline for online tax returns is 31 January 2013.”
