Welshpool based Invertek Drives has been named winner in the Technology Award category at the Made In Wales Awards 2012 at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff.

The Insider Business Magazine Awards, hosted by the BBC’s Huw Edwards, aim to recognise winners in nine categories, representing the most successful businesses in Wales.

This prestigious award comes hot on the heels of recent success in the Fast Growth 50 Awards for the Welshpool based company that manufacturers and marketsvariable speed drives for controlling electric motors. Invertek Drives won the Technology Award, sponsored by BAE Systems, after impressing judges with its novel technology, impact and commercial advantage.

Sales and Marketing Director, Rhydian Welson, commented:"We are constantly improving our product range to meet customer demand and give us a competitive advantage. Most recently Invertek has invested heavily in the development of its Optidrive P2 range of easy to use, high performance drives.

"We have also developed a range of products specifically targeted at expanding markets including: HVAC applications in building automation; unique Optiflow technology for pump station control and a dedicated Elevator drive for this specialist global sector.

Invertek was also shortlisted in the Exporter of the Year Award category - it currently exports more than 95% of its output to over 65 countries through a network of international sales partners. Rhydian continues, “Invertek’s strategic approach to export is working extremely well. Orders for our products are higher than ever and we have seen significant growth driven by emerging markets including Brazil.”
