Property companies merge

04/12/2012 @ 12:23

Morris Marshall and Poole and Shearer Morris are joining forces to create a new Joint Venture, with a view to extending their network across Central Wales and into Shropshire.

Under the merger, one of the two Newtown offices will close but the new company insists that all existing staff will retain their jobs.

“What it will enable us to do is offer buyers a wide selection of properties from homes on the coast to town and country properties in Shropshire and Montgomeryshire and to offer vendors an even bigger shop window for their properties,” said Alan Davies, Morris Marshall and Poole Partner.

Michael Williams from Shearer and Morris added: “This merger will not only increase  Shearer and Morris’ already extensive portfolio of residential/costal properties but be an opportunity to introduce highly qualified commercial and agricultural expertise into North Ceredigion.”

Morris Marshall and Poole is this year celebrating 150 years and has eight partners and 30 staff working from six offices in Welshpool, Newtown, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Llanidloes and Montgomery. The company is also a partner in Welshpool Livestock Sales, which owns and runs Welshpool Smithfield.

Shearer & Morris was established in 1971, and has two partners and 10 staff working from four offices in Machynlleth, Newtown, Aberystwyth and Tywyn, and a sub office in Aberdyfi.

The joint venture has not said whether they will be operating under a new name.
