More and more of us are living our lives through our smart phones and it seems that looking for a place to live is no exception!
Local property firm McCartney’s says it has invested in mobile technology after experiencing a huge increase in traffic that it was receiving through hand held devices.
“It was noticed throughout 2011 that there was far more traffic coming to our web site through mobile devices like iPhones, iPads and others,” said the firm’s Tom Carter. “So we have reacted by investing in mobile technology and launched our mobile site.
“It is a quick assumption that an app was the obvious way to reach out to the trending public but the problem is that apps are device specific and require a large amount of development. In comparison, a mobile site works hand in hand with the full website so when a mobile device tries to access a site it will automatically be redirected to the mobile version.
“Apps do have their positives, just the same as mobile sites have their negatives, but in overall usage we feel our mobile site has more than adequately fulfilled our goal of reaching out to the mobile market.”
In 2011, McCartney’s received 23,000 visits to its site from a mobile device but welcomed 29,000 visits in the first six months of 2012. Since mobile website was launched in the summer, it has welcomed 42,150 visits with one in eight visits made through mobiles.
“It is important that we stay ahead with the latest trends so that our customers can be assured we are using whatever means possible to sell their properties,” said Mr. Carter.
