Learn from a ‘Secret Millionaire’

The co-founder of pioneering Green and Black’s chocolate and a star of TV’s ‘Secret Millionaire’ are set to address Mid Wales businesses at this year’s Spotlight Mid Wales conference.

Now in its third year, the event takes place at Hafren, Newtown March 15.

Spotlight Mid Wales is designed to celebrate the region’s successes and focus on how businesses can boost their performance during challenging times. Established in 2011, the Spotlight conference has consistently attracted over 200 delegates from across the region.

“Feedback shows how much our delegates value the inspiring messages from high-profile speakers, the learning opportunities on offer and the unparalleled networking,”  said Dai Davies, Chair of the Spotlight Mid Wales consortium and Development Manager for the Federation of Small Businesses.

“The theme of this year’s event is Inspiring Success and we have assembled a varied programme that includes top speakers. We hope the event will assist Mid Wales businesses find new leads and discover innovative ways of working which will help take them to the next level.”

During the morning session, Jo Fairley will tell delegates how she co-founded the pioneering organic chocolate company Green & Black’s with husband, Craig Sams.

The company has now gone on to be ‘bigger than Marmite’ in sales terms and ‘cooler than Prada’ according to the four most recent Coolbrands surveys. In 2005, the brand was sold to Cadbury’s, but Jo remains in an ambassadorial role, travelling the world as the brand grows internationally in countries including the US and Australia.

Also sharing the secrets of success will be Kevin Green (pictured), a self-made multi-millionaire and social entrepreneur. Before making his fortune in business, he was a successful dairy farmer. He is one of the UK’s largest residential property landlords, a multi-business owner and appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Secret Millionaire’. He is involved in coaching under his own brand of Kevin Green Wealth (KGW) and is a ‘Dynamo’ role model for the Welsh Government, inspiring young people in schools and universities to set up businesses.

The main sponsor of this year’s Spotlight Mid Wales is the Welsh Government and the conference is possible as a result of positive collaboration between a range of key organisations eager to see a bright economic future for Mid Wales.  They include the Federation of Small Businesses, Leadership and Management Wales, Aberystwyth University and Bangor University – Strategic Alliance, Wise Network, BNI, Harrisons Solicitors and chartered accountants, Whittingham Riddell.

The event will be hosted by popular broadcaster, Sara Edwards.
