WPG merges with Shropshire firm

Welshpool Printing Group Ltd, which has been based in Welshpool since 1960 and employs 49 staff, has merged with NRG Direct Mail, which employs a team of eight staff at Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury.

Both bases are retained in the merger and there are no job losses.

The two companies, which have been working together for a number of years, recognise great opportunities for growth due to the synergy between the two businesses.

WPG’s managing director Paul Jones said: “The merger makes perfect sense as we are now able to offer a more efficient and integrated package of services comprising design, print, finishing and mailing.

“The companies will continue trading as separate entities but because we both have a UK-wide client base, including many mutual customers, we see great potential to expand the merged businesses.

“It was a natural progression for WPG because a lot of our print jobs get delivered to mailing houses. Now we have brought the services together to extend our offer to customers. We aim to capitalise on the quality staff and great knowledge that we have within the companies.

“The ultimate goal is to grow our joint turnover over the next five years, creating new employment opportunities along the way. We shall also continue to look out for acquisitions to grow the business.”

Established by Nick Chavasse a decade ago, NRG Direct Mail provides printing, packing and posting services and manages cost-effective direct mail marketing campaigns on behalf of clients.

WPG’s senior management team is chairman and co-founder Brian Jones, managing director Paul Jones, operations director Ian Jones, production director Derrick Greatorex and sales directors Gary Williams and Andrew Bebb.

The company has invested over £1 million in new equipment in recent years, including a new digital printing press, which was installed in January and has streamlined processes to remain competitive in a challenging economic climate.

The business provides high quality litho print solutions to customers, the majority of which are based in Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands.
