Going nuts for Christmas!

19/12/2010 @ 04:09

The Welshpool area begins its annual race against time to be ready for the 25th and one local retailer can confirm that we are all officially nuts for Christmas!

Richard Davies runs Super Scoop in Puzzle Square and says that despite the adverse weather and glum economic climate, he has enjoyed one of his busiest Festive Periods and is hoping the current snow won’t bring it to a premature end.

“It has been good this year,” he said. “There have been very quiet days when the weather has been bad and so I am concerned about the coming week, but overall I would say I am probably up on last year.”

Mr. Davies sells more than 600 lines of nuts and other items and his biggest problem has been replenishing the stock that has been selling out the fastest.

“We have sold in excess of half-a-ton of marzipan and a lot of icing,” he said. “So far we have managed to replenish the lines that have run low but we did expect a delivery on Friday that didn’t get through.”

Mr. Davies also reflected the opinion of shop keepers around the corner on Church Street by highlighting the fact that its recent week-long closure for road works “did not help business at all”.
