Welshpool rally driver James Watkins completed the Wyedean Stages in 90th place out of a field of 180, tenth in class.
The 22 year old was partnered for the first time by Neath's Daniel Phelps and was using last year's Nissan Micra with a new 1300 engine in the first round of the National BTRDA and Welsh Forest Championship, starting from Chepstow.
"It was a great start to the season with the car performing faultlesly," said Watkins. "The conditions were completely new to me with snow and ice on most stages making it difficult to judge handling and braking."
The pair's next event will be the Bulldog International Rally starting in Welshpool on March 23, the second round of the British Championship.
