Local singer-songwriter Dai Robs will carry the hopes of Wales on his shoulders when he bids to win the Grand Final of Open Mic UK 2010 at London’s O2 on Saturday night.

A bus load of supporters is making the journey to the capital to cheer on the singer who reached the final after a successful X-factor style text vote saw him come through the regional finals in December.

He now faces stiff competition from some of the best unsigned acts in Britain as he bids to secure a record deal, video, 100-date tour and a shot at stardom.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support so far. I promise not to let them down and I will give it everything I have got on Saturday night,” said Dai, who released his impressive debut album in the autumn last year.

After taking part in auditions against thousands of other unsigned musicians across the UK and impressing the judging panel with his originality and vocals, Dai went on to perform live on stage battling through both Regional and Area final heats and he is now set to perform at the IndigO2 at the O2 in London.

All Grand Finalists will perform on the main stage in front of a live crowd and judging panel, made up of industry insiders and guest celebrities. Some of the biggest names in the industry will be there to cast their eye over the unsigned talent.

Part of the judging process will once again be the text vote so to help Dai’s chances of taking the top prize, you can vote for him by texting ‘open 100’ to 86222. Texts cost £1.

Open Mic UK is the biggest music talent competition in the UK for unsigned singers and solo artists. Every year over 8, 000 musicians enter.
