A slightly reduced entry of over thirty month cattle this week, Otm cows sold to a top of £1082.88(144ppkg) for a Saler cow weighing 752kg from J S Abel, Hendre-Aur. AF & DM Phillips, Dinhunlle Isaf, presented a 649kg Limousin making £941.05 (145ppkg). Also from Messrs Phillips was a 48 – 72 month 622kg Saler cow making £864.58 (139ppkg). Heifers under 48 months topped at £760.24 for a Limousin weighing 559kg from Gittins & Co, Giants Bank. Steers under 48 months topped at £831.60 (165ppkg) for a Limousin weighing 504kg from MA Andrew & Son , Ty Cerrig.

PRIME CATTLE
Two prime Heifers forward from JM & SM Rowlands, Dolwen Farm. A Limousin heifer weighing 490kg made 242ppkg and a Charolais heifer weighing 548kg made 238ppkg.

An entry of 3041 prime lambs selling to an average of 197.93ppkg.
Lights (315) to 214ppkg from M C Davies, Knolls Farm. Others to 208ppkg from T E Rowlands Ai Fab, Tyddyn Ddu. Average of 193.41ppkg
Standards (871) to 221ppkg from D Gethin, Llanyhared. Others to 218ppkg from H Hughes & Son, Hendy. Average of 197.05ppkg
Mediums (1593) to 233ppkg from A E Casewell, Bodynfoel. Others to 218ppkg from CJ & ME Williams, Minysarn. Average of 198.97ppkg

CULL SHEEP (2362)
Today we saw a slightly increased entry of cull sheep. 2292 of which were ewes averaging £58.93, top call for the ewe section was £120 for two ewesfrom J Ruggeri, Gwaelodyrhos.£118 was achieved for a single ewe from J Powell, Cil Pentre. An entry of 28 rams averaged £78.04 topping at £139 from EM & DR Jones, Pwllcoch. RG & JL Peate presented a ram making £138. Overall demand was strong on all types of ewes.
COUPLES
A seasonal, reduced entry of couples and hoggs and lambs on offer this week.
A Texel x hogg with a Charollais lamb at foot from F Bailey, Pensarn sold to £160 while Suffolk x hoggs from the same home sold to £141.

COWS & CALVES
An entry of 29 cows and calves this week selling to a top of £2200 for a Limousin x 1st calver with her Limousin heifer calf from B Jones & Son, Cwmtrefarlo, also from the same home was a similar outfit making £2050. Mr Jones’ 6 outfits averaged £1858. DP & RE Evans, Moel Y Garth Farm, presented two Limousin x 1st calver one with a bull calf, the other with a heifer calf making £1960 and £1980 respectively. W D Jones & Son, Upper Scafell, presented a 2008 born Beef Shorthorn cow with a Limousin x Heifer calf making £1800. A breakdown of all prices achieved were as follows: £2000 + 2 lots, £1800 - £2000 3 lots, £1600 -£1800 5 lots, £1400 - £1600 5 lots, £1200- £1400 9 lots, £1000 - £1200 4 lots, <£1000 1 lot.
