Poppy Appeal flag is raised

Welshpool’s Poppy Appeal was officially launched yesterday with the raising of the Royal British Legion flag.

The Mayor of Welshpool Councillor Steve Kay led members of the RBL and Poppy Appeal from the Town Hall to the Tourist Information Centre where Appeal Organiser Jan Williams raised the flag assisted by Town Clerk Robert Robinson.

A welcome was given by the Mayor and a paper of dedication was read by the Town Clerk watched by war veterans before red balloons were released.
