Two new MyWelshpool milestones!

27/02/2017 @ 07:51

We’re proud of our loyal readership, so every now and then we like to mark a milestone by saying thank-you.

It just so happens that over the past week we have celebrated two!

In recent days, the MyWelshpool Facebook page welcomed its 6,000th follower, a remarkable achievement considering we are only in our seventh year of operation.

And not to be outdone, our other social media outlet – Twitter – attracted its 3,500th follower to ensure we are better connected to our readership than ever before.

Our sites are powered by you, the wonderful people of Montgomeryshire, who have made us one of the UK’s leading hyperlocal news operations.

From the early days we recognised the importance of linking our breaking news stories to social media and it also gives you, the reader, a chance to make your opinions known.

Our social media following has expanded hand-in-hand with our continued solid growth in readers logging on to the site every single day of the year.

Every month we welcome an average of around 22,000 users who read more than 150,000 pages of news. It is a stunning statistic that we are immensely proud of.

And don’t forget, we’re cementing a solid readership down the road in the Newtown area where MyNewtown attracts around 19,000 users over the same period. That operation's social media following is gaining in strength too with 5,272 Facebook followers and 3,348 on Twitter.

Of course, our huge following has made us very attractive to the business sector who continue to put their faith in us through advertising which keeps our heads above water. Without them, we would't survive.

Our pledge is to always deliver a free service with fair and balanced news, whilst providing an outlet for businesses to reach their target audience. We don’t take sides and we let you make your own decisions on issues that matter to you.

We hope that you continue to enjoy both MyWelshpool and MyNewtown, and all that is left for us to say is a heartfelt thank-you to you, as readers and supporters, from all of us involved. Your continued backing is deeply valued.
