A cracking gesture!

As follow up stories go, this is a cracker!

Last week we reported how nine-year-old Tomos Davies (pictured), who is learning all about economics through his little egg selling enterprise, was struck by thieves.

Tomos operates an honesty box policy for selling his eggs at the end of his lane in Tregynon, but two dozen, around half of his weekly stock, were taken without any payment being left.

However, our story stirred one businessman into action and young Tomos can enjoy a financial boost as he bids to save up for a new bike.

“We were contacted by Kevin Clarke from The Pebbles Farm, near Shrewsbury, who said he had read the story on MyWelshpool and was touched as his kids used to do the same,” said Tomos’s mum, Sharon, who runs the Dolly Mixtures Running Group in Welshpool. “Not only did he replace the eggs that were stolen but gave a total of six boxes from his free roaming flock.

“Tomos really appreciates the gesture of Kevin and his family, but was made up when they also kindly gave an Easter egg each for both him and his younger sister!”

Wonderful to know there are still plenty of good eggs out there!
