The village of Llanrhaeadr was star struck on Friday night when global football icon David Beckham made a surprise appearance.
But the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder’s flying visit didn’t go down too well with the local football club.
The 42-year-old’s chartered helicopter landed on the football pitch and despite being a model celebrity by posing for pictures and taking time to meet locals, it seems he literally left his mark on the pitch!
Following his appearance, the club Tweeted: “Great to see David Beckham in the village! Shame he’s made a big hole in the pitch #repairworkneeded.”
It is thought the superstar is filming a commercial in the area and fancied a visit to the local Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfalls.
The village can now expect an influx of visitors after he posted a picture on Instagram to his 40 million followers with the caption: “Wow, ridiculously beautiful”.
While the superstar had departed by the time most villagers were alerted, some did manage to grab a picture.
Harri Matthews posted on Twitter (pictured): “I can now say David Backham smells like an absolute angel!”
