18/10/2017 @ 11:19

The Mid Wales Model Railway Show is coming to Welshpool Town Hall on October 28, when visitors across the country are expected to visit the town.

This family friendly show, organised by the Newtown Model Railway Society, is now a regular event in the town’s calendar and promises to have something for everyone.

For the children, there will be a large scale Playmobil layout with hands on activities that they can take part in. There will be a rarely seen Underground Ernie layout where the trains have moving eyes and can almost talk.

There are Modern Image layouts for the diesel enthusiasts and steam enthusiasts are well catered for with layouts from a bygone age. Welsh and continental narrow gauge is well represented. “There is something for everyone this year,” said exhibition Manager Martin Rich. “New and used model railway items and books will be on sale and there will demonstrations of how to make scenery and rolling stock.”

Societies represented will be the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway selling their range of books and Christmas Cards, The Bishops Castle Railway Society, and the Vale of Rheidol Railway.

The exhibitors are very willing to discuss their modelling skills and techniques with the public.

Doors open at 10.30am. Admission is just £4, although accompanied children are free.
