Plaid Cymru has welcomed backing from Powys County Council after calling for better mobile connectivity in Mid Wales.

“We are pleased that the full Powys County Council has supported Plaid Cymru’s call for the Welsh Government to take action to amend the planning policy in Wales to enable better connectivity in Powys,” said group leader Councillor Elwyn Vaughan.

The motion called: “on the Welsh Government to take immediate action on putting planning reforms in place to enable improved mobile connectivity coverage as the basis of a modern, vibrant economy.

“This to include allowing masts in Wales to be 25m height rather than the 15m as at present thus assisting the development of an entrepreneurial  economy in Powys and Rural Wales.”

“We welcome this support and look forward to early action being taken,” said Mr Vaughan the Plaid Cymru – Green group leader.
