Kids from a Welshpool and Newtown dance school have won the opportunity to perform in Disneyland Paris.

Students from The AdiictDance School are celebrating the news that they have been dreaming of.

This week it was confirmed by officials from Disneyland Paris, that the group had successfully beaten off competition from across the world to perform in Paris this May.

The group were competing against 9,000 dancers from over 30 countries worldwide for the opportunity to perform on a Disney stage in front of an international audience.

Shelley Ann and Chris Gittins, who established AdiictDance, said: “It’s fantastic news, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on a Disney stage in front of thousands of people. We are so proud of our students.”

The group had to audition by sending in a DVD of their dance routine and based on this performance the group was selected.

Shelley Ann and Chris added: “We’d like to say a big thank you to the students, parents and local people who have supported us in raising money for the trip. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to put Mid Wales on the international stage in Disneyland.”

The AdiictDance School provides high quality dance training for children aged three and above in all forms of dance techniques including contemporary, jazz and body conditioning to name a few. The group hold classes in the Flash and Maldwyn leisure centres.

They are busy fundraising now towards the cost of the trip, with fundraising activities including bag packing in Morrison's and Tesco in Newtown and Welshpool, bingo, sponsored walks and cakes stalls.

If anyone would like to sponsor or donate to the group, please contact Shelley Ann on 07738 626 316 or Chris on 07539 177 035.
