Music Festival this Saturday

It hasn’t rained much since April, but when it did it caused mayhem and forced the Welshpool Music Festival (WMF) to postpone.

With the hospital underwater and local roads flooded, the organisers made the wise decision to pull the plug and it will go ahead this Saturday with dozens of performances across several town centre venues.

“There will be 33 performances across five venues full of very diverse music, something for every musical taste,” said the Festival’s Kuldip Wesson-Caberwal.

“The venues are The Talbot, Fabrizio's Italian Restaurant, The Pheasant, The Bay Tree Vintage Cafe, The Angel with The Wellington providing WMF ‘Open Mic’ until 7pm followed by karaoke.

“Most venues will be starting a bit later this year, around 3pm, with some finishing close to midnight.”

Musicians are coming from as far afield as Coventry, Stoke and Abergaveny, but the majority of performances will be made by local bands.

“The WMF is run by non-paid volunteers and we are always looking for proactive people to join our Steering Committee so please get in touch,” Kuldip added. “We are hoping to add new elements to expand this festival next year, our tenth year, so could do with some extra help.

“We are also looking for more sponsors as we now have a reach of 20,000 plus through our media outlets.”
