Going back to his roots…

22/08/2018 @ 08:08

It was bands and solo acts that rocked the foundations of Welshpool last weekend, and this Saturday it is DJs with a major international star making a return to his roots as the headliner.

Welshpool Music Festival has been labelled a success by organisers following a trouble-free ninth edition, and this Saturday a 12-hour DJ takeover will further enhance the town’s reputation as a mecca for music.

And topping the bill will be Sonny Wharton, a firm fixture on the world’s House and Techno scene who has established himself as one of the finest DJ/Producers to emerge from the UK in recent years.

“Sonny is making his first appearance in Welshpool in 20 years, apart from a few visits to Tesco!” said Peter Exton, one of the organisers of 12 DJS|12 HOURS which will be held in the The Pheasant from noon on Saturday.

“We have an incredible line-up of DJs who are all giving their time for free so that we can raise some money for three charities very close to our hearts.

“Wolftech is coming from Carmarthenshire and has just returned from touring the USA. Other DJs are coming from Llanidloes, Shrewsbury, Llanfyllin and Montgomery.”

Brecon Mountain Rescue, Sane Mental Health and Macmillan Cancer Support are the three charities that will benefit from the marathon session of top class music.

“It is free entry so please come and enjoy the music and donate whatever you can to these great causes.”
