Music Club concert Thursday

13/11/2018 @ 11:10

Hot on the heels of the successful season opening concert by the pianist Simon Callaghan last month, Welshpool Music Club have confirmed another top class performance for this Thursday.

The second concert, to be held at 7.30pm in The Methodist Church, marks the Club’s participation in the Beethoven in Wales project initiated by Rhyl Music Club together with the locally resident violin and piano duo Mary Hofman and Richard Ormrod.

They will be playing Beethoven’s three sonatas (Opus 12) and the wonderful Spring Sonata. Also included will be a new sonata by Aberdyfi-based composer Rhian Samuel.

Mary and Richard have performed duos together for five years in venues across the UK as well as touring the Mediterranean, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Mary has a varied career as an orchestral and chamber musician and teacher. She has been guest leader of the Edinburgh Quartet, performed with the Endellion Quartet and is a member of Ensemble Cymru.

Richard is an acclaimed soloist having performed concertos on international tours with a number of major orchestras.

Tickets to the concert for non-members are £10 (£2 for students) and will be available at the door.

There will still be the opportunity to pay £30 and become a member for the remainder of the season, enjoying four concerts (including this one) for the price of three.
