Abacare recruiting now

01/02/2019 @ 03:13

Abacare is calling for caring individuals to join its team to help look after the elderly and vulnerable during its busiest time of the year in February.

The company says the winter months are some of its busiest as the cold weather can affect its service users greatly.

Jane Jones, Branch Manager at Abacare, which provides care across the Welshpool said, said: “Pre and post-Christmas is our busiest time of the year, so we’re putting a call out to anyone out there who wants to kick off their New Year with a new career and join our team.

“The cold weather can really effect the service users we look after. The elderly are much more susceptible to illness in the cold weather, meaning they may need additional care and many of them are not able to get out and about as easily as they would in the summer due to freezing temperatures and snow or ice, so the number of errands they need carers to run for them can increase.

“We’re not the only ones that feel the pressure in winter though, other health services also face high patient numbers and long waiting lists in emergency departments. At this time of year elderly people are admitted to emergency departments with multiple health problems.

“It was recently announced that the Department of Health in Northern Ireland would put up £3million to help health and social care services deal with winter pressures and we think this is a real step in the right direction and something we would like to see happen in England and Wales too as it would be a real benefit to us.”

Abacare believes it offers inspiring work for inspirational people.

Jane added: “We are looking for new caring, honest and reliable members of staff to join our team. We offer fantastic training and the opportunity for internal advancement.

“Anyone who joins us is not only getting a new job, they are creating a career path with the different qualifications they can achieve, including QCF level two, three and five, and a vocation for themselves thanks to the very rewarding work they will be carrying out.

“No experience is necessary to become a carer as we offer free, full training, which includes a company induction, first aid, information on dementia, health and safety, food safety, infection control, handling medication and moving and handling service users, with the opportunity to achieve Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) after the initial six months probationary period.

“New recruits are given free uniforms, access to national staff discount scheme for all major brands as well as 28 days paid holiday, paid travel between calls and paid mileage.”
