Sublime night of music Thursday
The Piatti Quartet is one of the most distinguished quartets of their generation and their concert in Welshpool provides an opportunity to hear a string quartet of the highest order.
They have performed in all the major venues and festivals around the country as well as concerts throughout the world, with national broadcasts on BBC Radio, ABC (Australia), RTE (Ireland) and France Musique (France).
The Quartet’s recordings have been released on the Linn Records and Champs Hill labels, including the Piatti’s lauded contribution to the complete string quartet works of Felix Mendelssohn (Champs Hill), which was BBC Music Magazine’s Critic’s Choice.
On Thursday, they will be playing works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Bridge. The concert will take place at The Methodist Church, High Street, Welshpool on February 21 at 7.30pm.
Entry is free for members, for non-members the charge is £10 (students £2) and tickets will be available at the door.
Tea/coffee and biscuits are available after the performance when there is an opportunity to meet the musicians.
