Children visit housing development

14/06/2019 @ 11:05

The children of Castle Caereinion Church in Wales Primary School have visited a housing development taking shape in the village.

The affordable homes currently being built by local housing association, Mid-Wales Housing and contractor for the scheme, Williams Homes Ltd, Bala, will provide six highly energy efficient family homes of two and three bedrooms which will be available for rent to local people from the autumn.

During the visit the children were given a talk by representatives of Williams Homes on site construction and safety and were treated to a visit to the site which is located next to the school.

Mr. Sean Clarke, Headteacher of Castle Caereinion Church in Wales school said: “Our children all very much enjoyed their visit to the building site and have taken on valuable lessons on who does what on a site and the safety requirements. Our Class 1 pupils enjoyed it so much that they have taken the information into our own outdoor area sorting out who is Site Manager and who is in charge of each area of work.

“If there are any budding site workers out there, Castle School are now enrolling for September. Contact us on 01938 850275.”

Mr. Alex Dawson, Development Manager of Mid-Wales Housing said: “Mid-Wales Housing is committed to engaging with and supporting the local communities in which we operate and we were therefore delighted to have the opportunity to involve the local school in this way. We are proud of the homes that are being developed in the village which will not only provide quality affordable housing for local people but also support local employment and opportunities through the procurement of the scheme.”

He added: “The development is on land long identified by the community as suitable for affordable homes, in a rural location, where making such schemes a reality is a real challenge. The partnership with Williams Homes is a very positive way of dealing with such opportunities.”

Those who would like further information or to be considered for the new homes can contact Mid-Wales Housing on 0300 111 3030 or email info@mid-walesha.co.uk
