The charity ensemble formed out of Welshpool that took the Christmas charts by storm in 2018 are back!
The Fire Tones are made up of firefighters from across the UK who came together to film a new version of Do They Know it’s Christmas (Feed the World) with Band Aid’s blessing to raise money for their service charity.
It reached the top of the CD singles chart and raised thousands of pounds, but most of all it created an overwhelming feel good factor in the run-up to Christmas.
And now, they have done it again, with founder Chris Birdsell, who is based at Welshpool Fire Station, getting the band back together prior to the Covid-19 restrictions in December to record Living Years, the classic originally done by Mike & the Mechanics.
It’s an unfinished work as the virus has prevented completion, but Chris felt it was still good enough to release a snippet with a strong message of support to front line colleagues across the services.
“It’s a project we were working on just prior to the Covid-19 outbreak,” said Chris (pictured at the front with his colleagues). “Although it was never finished we thought we’d share it to show our support.
“We would like to thank all members of the emergency services and essential workers who are working incredibly hard to keep the world functioning.
“Remember to stay home, stay safe, look after yourself and each other.”
