Masons support local mental health

One of Welshpool’s oldest societies has stepped forward to help local Mental Health Charity, Mid and North Wales MIND.

Welchpool Lodge of Freemasons — who have met in the town since 1864 - have presented a cheque for £2,500.

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to continue our ongoing support for local charities that benefit the residents of Welshpool. Charity and support for charities is very much at the heart of what we believe as an organisation.

“In the wake of the Coronavirus crisis it seems abundantly clear that Mental Health Issues have been greatly magnified by stress and isolation.

“Welchpool Lodge members were particularly keen to show support for local initiatives in this field by opening up the charitable accounts set aside for times of crisis. Mental Health was strongly picked up as a key issue by our younger Lodge Members.”

Whilst collecting the cheque, Janet Henderson MIND local support worker emphasised how their workload has grown substantially and how the extra funding will help provide extra support hours and a range of other associated services in the local area.

Whilst thanking the Lodge for the donation Janet was particularly keen to promote the contact number for service access 01597 824411 and the website at www.mnpmind.org.uk
