Community organisations are doing their best to ensure Christmas isn’t completely cancelled and one has arranged for Santa Claus to come to Welshpool safely on Wednesday.
Social distancing and Covid-19 rules must be observed when Santa visits the town’s three main car parks from 6pm.
The event is being organised by fundraisers for the Ruff Start Dog Rescue charity with visitors asked to donate what they can in the buckets provided.
“We will have spray and wipes on the van and we will clean down the donation bucket at every stop,” said a spokesperson, who said that volunteers are giving their time for free and covering the cost of the visits. “Lots of children may not see Santa this year and this will give them a chance.”
Children can also hand over a letter with a stamped self-addressed envelope for Santa to send a reply.
