Wildlife, books and history in the Monty Hour

26/01/2021 @ 11:27

The first “Monty Hour” was hosted by Montgomery Energy Group last week, with organisers releasing details of the next two Wednesday evening online events.

Clare and Simon Boyes made a presentation on their work as respectively the County Wasp and Bee Recorder, and Bird Recorder, for Montgomeryshire.

This Wednesday, Monty Hour will be a “Desert Island Books” session with lockdown reading inspiration from well-known Montgomery area residents, each presenting a favourite read, plus a few literary treats along the way.

A booklist will be available after the event and there will be an opportunity for the audience to suggest their own good reads as well.

This will be followed on February 3 by a presentation from David Thomas on “150 years of history from the Old Bell archive”.

David explained: “Over the past few months we’ve been sharing photographs from the Old Bell archive on social media. We’ve been really pleased with the reaction, so we thought we’d use the Monty Hour to tell you more about the photography collections and the stories they tell. They show much that has changed, but also much that is still familiar to us today.”
