What’s your memory of Welshpool?

18/02/2021 @ 09:29

Capturing the magic of yesteryear is driving one Welshpool history enthusiast forward in his mission to “making the town’s past part of the present”.

Alan Crowe caught the town’s attention recently by uploading videos of past Welshpool events onto YouTube, showing the town in all its former glory not to mention some of the characters that have helped to shape it.

And now Mr Crowe said that interest in his Memories of Welshpool Project has taken off and he is encouraging residents past and present to play their part.

“Following on from uploading of videos onto YouTube, I was asked by a number of people what my Memories of Welshpool Project is all about and was it just a Facebook Group?” said Mr Crowe.

“The mission statement of the project is ‘To keep the social history of the town alive by making its past part of the present’. In answer to is it just a Facebook Group the answer is No! It is so much more.”

He is encouraging more people to come forward by sharing photographs, memorabilia, videos or memories that can be incorporated into his project for future generations to enjoy.

“I would like to thank all of those who have contributed and encourage anyone to come forward with anything they think is of interest,” he said.
