Vicky Bowen was inside the Unicorn

The mystery of who was inside the Unicorn that brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of Welshpool residents and featured on MyWelshpool last week is revealed today as businesswoman Vicky Bowen.

Vicky who runs Health Matters Education and Busy Feet says she was inspired by her four-year-old nephew Isaac to dress up in the giant inflatable Unicorn and tour the town.

It's been so much great fun visiting local pre-schools, primary schools, care homes, local shops, supermarkets and walking through our beautiful town and making people smile,” said Vicky.

And three more people will be smiling after being drawn out of the hat of the huge amount of MyWelshpool readers who successfully identified Vicky.

Vicky persuaded local businesses to match her £100 donation with match funding and will be presenting £200 worth of vouchers to our lucky winners.

First out of the hat and receiving £100 worth of vouchers was Heidi Gannon. She will receive a £40 voucher from Rikki Lloyd Butchers, £30 voucher from Hair Studio, £20 voucher from Alexanders and £10 voucher from Coco.

Second out and receiving £50 worth of vouchers was Liam Evans. Liam will receive a £20 voucher from Inglenook Café, a £20 voucher from Poppys and a £10 voucher from Coco.

Third out of the hat and also receiving £50 worth of vouchers was Sophie Bowen (no relation to Vicky). She will receive a £30 voucher from The Cornstore, a £10 voucher from Andrews Fish Bar and a £10 voucher from Little Welsh Bakery.

“I am absolutely humbled by the support received from local business,” said Vicky. “It has been a brilliant and very rewarding journey during very difficult circumstances.”

The presentations will take place later this week observing social distancing regulations.
