Young Farmers Clubs across Montgomeryshire are on their way back after the pandemic-enforced closure that left a huge hole in many young people’s lives.
Montgomery YFC covers 18 local clubs which are all starting back up following more than 18 months of in person meetings being mothballed and activity moving online.
“To many, now that life is slowly edging towards normality, we are all starting to feel more relaxed,” said Elin Mererid Lewis, County Marketing Officer.
“But for Montgomery YFC, here is where the hard work really starts, now is when we relaunch, now is when we re-engage and attract members, now is when we look to a bright and exciting future!”
A successful annual meeting has been held with new officials appointed, and current County Chairman, Aled Rees, said: “We are extremely excited to continue offering a programme of fun competitions, events and opportunities for our 18 fantastic clubs and members. The young farmers movement shone through during the pandemic and I have no doubts we will continue to thrive as we go into the new normal.
“Young Farmers provides unique opportunities to develop skills, work with local communities, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme, socialising and most importantly having fun.
“One thing is for sure, young farmers offers something for everyone and you do not have to be a farmer to belong to a Young Farmers Club. If you are aged between 10 and 28, why not join your local Young Farmers Club? I cannot recommend Young Farmers enough – you will not regret it!”
On Sunday, Montgomery YFC are holding their Annual Field Day at Welshpool Livestock Market with competitions ranging from stock-judging to Christmas tree decorating and pumpkin carving to farm safety competitions.
But how do I get involved?
There are clubs all around Montgomeryshire that hold an array of club nights, and if you are between the ages of 10-28, why not pop along to see what it’s all about? Below is a run-down of the Young Farmers Clubs in the county and how to get in contact.
