A farmer and chorister celebrated his 100th birthday at Welshpool yesterday (Tuesday).

Roy Buckingham Cook, who lived in Devon for the majority of his life and has had a farming background for about 40 years, is a resident at Dorothy Hughes House.

He moved to Welshpool in 2002 to be near his son after his wife sadly passed away.

Over the years he has been involved in various choirs, locally the Methodist Church in Welshpool and the Montgomery Chorale.

A spokesman for Dorothy Hughes House said: “Roy has been here at Dorothy Hughes House for almost a year now, he is a ray of sunshine and loved by everyone.”
