Welshpool High School’s bid to put pupil well being at the forefront was highlighted with an exercise involving Year 10 pupils.
The students were provided a game by Mrs Phillips based on the TV series ‘I'm a celebrity get me out of here’.
It was an adaptation of snakes and ladders where if a team landed on a ladder, they moved up the board, getting ever closer to the '100' square to win the prize. However, if they landed on a snake, the whole team had to carry out a ‘bush tucker trial’.
Throwing a dice determined whether they got a sweet treat or a gruesome grub (edible mealworms, locusts and crickets).
“Surprisingly, all pupils wanted to challenge themselves to try a grub and I think it is fair to say that a fun time was had by all!” said a school spokesperson.
