Staff launch ‘Photo-of-the-Week’

04/02/2022 @ 09:48

A photo-of-the-week initiative launched by Welshpool High School to showcase the area we call home has already gone national, and could go international now travel restrictions have eased.

The initiative was set up at the start of November as a way of encouraging staff to share images of where they live, and remind us of what a beautiful part of the Welsh Borders we live in.

The pictures have then been sent out by email to staff through the week to provide a short, sharp wellbeing boost.

“The response has been terrific, with shots ranging from sunsets over Long Mountain to views of the Severn and Dyfi Valleys to trees and wildlife by the Monty Canal,” said a school spokesperson.

“Staff have captured a whole range of landscapes when walking their dogs, children or just themselves.”

The theme has changed since Christmas to shots from the wider UK and, already, pictures have been shared by staff from trips to Yorkshire, Scotland, South Wales and Cornwall.

“We'll see what other UK images come in up to Easter and we'll look to go international in the summer!” said the spokesperson.
