Art Group meets in Guilsfield

Montgomeryshire art group Celf-Able will be working on a new environmental themed project, ‘DaearGelf/EarthArt’ in Guilsfield on Saturday.

The group will explore how sustainable living can be made possible for all in Montgomeryshire, express our thoughts and feelings on the issues through art. 

Following inspiring meetings in Machynlleth and Newtown, the project will next meet at Guilsfield Community Centre on Saturday February 19th, 2pm to 4pm.

The project, funded by Arts Council Wales, will be working with Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, Siawns Teg and artist Jo Munton, along with the Centre for Alternative Technology and Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre.

The first meetings will be a discussion around sustainable living and how the climate crisis and social issues affect us all in our daily lives, and sharing ideas about how we can use our creativity to raise awareness and promote wider discussion. 

The group will then try out different forms of artistic expression from February to June, the venues will be Centre for Alternative Technology, the Focus Enterprise Hub, Newtown, the Community Centre, Guilsfield, the Institute Llanfair Caereinion and the Library Building (RDC), Llanfyllin. 

Booking is required for all the dates and venues via Eventbrite, search for ‘DaearGelf/EarthArt’. 

Social distancing will be in place and anyone aged over 11 years will need to wear a mask and bring their own mug and teaspoon for hot drinks. 

The events are free and open to all, those under 16 to be accompanied by a responsible adult please.

Celf-Able is an art group run by disabled and disability artists, in Montgomeryshire, providing opportunities for people to get together and do art, share and learn from each other.
