Welshpool 10k entries approach 800

22/03/2022 @ 10:10

Welshpool is preparing for a big day on Sunday that will see the town centre closed off to allow around 800 runners to take part in the inaugural Welshpool 10k, organised by Adrenalin Sporting Events.

This will be third time lucky for the 10k following two cancellations due to Covid so the organisers are putting in the hours this week to ensure that everything is in place for a memorable day out for the town.

With the run starting and finishing outside the Town Hall, High Street will be closed from 5am till 1pm, while Berriew Road will be closed from 8.45am-9.20am and Red Lane will be closed from 8am-10.30am.

With the long range forecast promising a sunny day at the moment, it is hoped that residents will come out in force to support the runners.

“We are now moving towards 800 entries which is fantastic news,” said Alan Lewis, from Adrenalin Sporting Events.

“I really hope the town comes out and supports the event. The runners love seeing people on the route and it makes such a big difference. Everything is set, so we can expect a great day.”

A team of around 50 volunteers will be on duty working as marshals and medical teams, while the event has attracted strong local support from SJ Roberts and Lowfield Timber Frames as headline sponsors. Control Techniques are supplying runners with a cool bottle and the podium teddy bears, while FIX Auto are supplying the clock car.
