It was third time lucky for the Welshpool 10k which brought the town to a standstill this morning.
More than 800 runners from across the area and beyond tackled the stunning course which took them from the Town Hall through the grounds of Powis Castle and back to the Town Hall.
Organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, the Welshpool 10k was held at the third time of asking after two Covid-enforced cancelled events, but the wait was worthwhile with a well marshalled route making it a day to remember.
“Today has been a long time coming,” said lead organiser, Alan Lewis. “There was a tremendous field of competitors supported by a great crowd along the way so I couldn’t be happier. Thank-you to everyone who helped make this such a special day.
Paralympic legend Jim Roberts MBE started the race which was won by Team Wales marathon star Andy Davies (pictured), of Forden, in a time of 32 minutes 33 seconds.
“The pressure was on I guess but I felt I had done enough training to be able to win,” said Andy. “But that doesn’t matter because the important thing was seeing so many people out here taking part with smiles on their faces. It was a brilliant event.”
